Ok. I came to work at 10 or so this morning. By 12 or so, my bike was stolen from the lobby of my building at 1330 North Classen in Midtown. This is remarkable, as it was INSIDE the building. It was also monitored by 3 cameras.
I am, for whatever reason know in OKC as "Chick on a Bike", which makes my child clients roll in gales of laughter. I am a commuter cyclist. I ride in all seasons, all weather and all manner of dress. Never deterred by a suit and heels and the bike.
I don't own a vehicle and either walk, bike , ride the bus or use TimeCar vehicle co-op. People often are more likely to ask me " hey! where's your bike? " than to ask about me personally, would that I would show up without it.
So. We have surmised now that it is 550 pm that a person (male) came in the building with one bike, and left with another bike. And that person may have taken the bike to the OKC Day Center, over off of Virginia and Linwood. An OKC PD police report has been filed. 13-74786. Can call the investigator at (405) 297 1120 if you have a tip.
This bike was given to me as a gift by my brother, Peter. I think because he did not want me riding his bike, which is a really cool whitewall tired jaguar beachcomber number.
My bike was sort of an irridescent blue and white, has only one reflector on the FRONT tire. It has a light blue flashlight hanging from the gearshift. The gearshift is missing it's graphic. It has silver bent fenders. There is a blue GiltEdgeFarmsDairy crate, strapped in rather bad geometrics to a black rack on the back.
It has new tires front and back, with mismatched covers on the stems. It looks kind of 1950's. The silver and black seat is split. There is a black latch for a basket on the front that is kind of triangular in shape at the handle bars.
It has been adjusted because I am 6 feet tall and noone thinks women's bikes should be for 6 foot tall women, so the seat has an extension pole welded in place.
This is not a tricked out bike. It is serviceable. Not having it means my transportation options are limited.
And you also cannot call me "Chick on a Bike."
So please contact the OKCPD if you happen to find it or see someone riding it. It is suspected the bike is taken apart and dispensed for parts.
Kind retweets on Twitter from @TheSpyfm and @dansden earlier for the missing bike.
Sigh. This is the second bike I have lost in 3 years in OKC. http://www.examiner.com/article/downown-examiner-s-bike-taken-northwest-okc
