This coming week, February 25 - March 3, is another solidly packed week of live Orlando local music.
The last two preliminary rounds of The Hard Rock Rising Battle of the Bands competition take place this week. On Monday, Orlando bands Stiletto Red, ReaGan Smash, Sonic Explosion and Eastwind play and on Sunday the bands nu ERA, The Bloody Jug Band, Flows Like Wine and Black Tent Revival compete. The winners of those two battles will join Orlando band Leaving Haven for the finals on March 12 at The Hard Rock Orlando.
On Friday, Orlando’s Gerry William Band is releasing their debut CD “You Think You’ve Heard It All” with a show at The Social in downtown Orlando.
The Deland Rock and Metal Festival kicks off at noon on Saturday. Several local Orlando bands are playing the festival including Aergia, Error404, From Within, City Of Stages, An Honest Year, Another Life Spared, Theravada and Druid Lord.
Also on Saturday, Orlando band The Actomatics will be joined by special guests Bunky Garrabrant, Kaleigh Baker and Jessy Daumen for their CD release show for “Summer is Risky.” The Examiner.com review of that CD is here.
Monday, February 25

Wills Pub - 1042 N. Mills Ave. - Unified Records Presents live music from Orlando bands You Blew It! and Among Giants appearing with Secret Plot To Destroy The Entire Universe, Gillian Carter and Frameworks for this 18+ show. Tickets are $5 and the show starts at 8:30 p.m.

The Social - 54 North Orange Ave. - Gorilla Music presents the Orlando Battle of the Bands with live music from Orlando bands Eight Stories High, Admiral Writes, Rosemary Station and Andrew Martinet with Florida bands Avacyn and The Band Colton among others for this all ages show. The show starts at 6 p.m. and tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door.
