Soon after the exciting news of Donna Mills (ex Abby, ‘Knots Landing’) joining the cast of ‘General Hospital’ comes word of a highly anticipated return.

Daytime veteran Rick Hearst (ex Whip ‘Bold and Beautiful,’ ex Matt, ‘Young and Restless,’ ex Alan Michael, ‘Guiding Light’) is on his way back to the popular ABC soap as the conniving Ric Lansing.

Hearst’s return comes at an interesting time for the character with on screen brother Sonny (Maurice Benard) in the middle of a mob war. And with Ric’s enemy Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) finally out of the way, anything is possible for the character.

Hearst’s character is also father to Molly Lansing (Haley Pullos).

According to Soap Opera Digest, Hearst is currently filming at ‘GH.’

The actor’s first air date is February 24.

In other ‘GH’ news, Head Writer Ron Carlivati has inked a new deal with the soap.

And Deadline reports (via Soaps in Depth) that ‘GH’ has been renewed for another season.

‘General Hospital’ airs weekdays at 2pm on Detroit’s local ABC affiliate WXYZ Channel 7.
