A powerful storm that paralyzed part of the plains will move across the southern Great Lakes late Tuesday into Wednesday. A mixture of rain, sleet and snow will begin and spread from south to north across the area Tuesday afternoon and evening. The precipitation will change to all snow Tuesday evening.
The Grand Rapids National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory from 1 PM Tuesday to 6 AM Wednesday for Allegan, Barry, Eaton, Ingham, Van Buren, Kalamazoo, Calhoun and Jackson counties. Snowfall amounts in this area will range from 3-6 inches.
They also issued a Winter Weather Advisory from 4 PM Tuesday to 6 AM Wednesday for Newaygo, Mecosta, Isabella, Muskegon, Montcalm, Gratiot, Ottawa, Kent Ionia and Clinton Counties. Snowfall amounts in this area will range from 2-5 inches.
A strong wind will reduce visibilities adding to the travel problems.
This snow will be very wet and heavy and may bring down trees and power lines resulting in isolated power outages.
