A potent upper level disturbance and associated trough will pass over the region today, with another round of showers and thunderstorms expected this afternoon. The storms could be slow movers capable of producing heavy rainfall and even some flash flooding. Considerable cloud cover will likely hold temperatures down below normal values, but once again, any breaks of sunshine could lead to warmer temperatures in spots.

Rain chances will then continue into the beginning of the weekend as an upper level trough remains in place over the region and several disturbances rotate through. Gradually improving conditions and warmer temperatures are then expected as the weekend progresses with sunshine returning on Sunday and Monday as high pressure attempts to build into the region.
