Another recall, this time chicken sausage recalled due to plastic pieces found

We told you a few weeks ago about Kellogg's recalling Special K Red Berries due to a risk of glass pieces in the product. And we also told you about 38,000 pounds of Gwaltney sausage recalled because there was a risk of plastic pieces in the casing.

So it's probably no surprise that this week a New Jersey company is now recalling more than 82,000 pounds of chicken and apple sausage due to possible bits of plastic inside.

Schmalz's European Provisions is recalling 12 ounce vacuum packages of Applegate Organics Chicken and Apple Sausage with use by or freeze by dates of March 17, 2013 on the package. The product will have an establishment number of P-5411 inside where the USDA mark of inspection is located.

The problem was discovered after the company received three consumer complaints. FSIS and the company have received no reports of injury at this time. Anyone concerned about an injury from consumption of these products should contact a healthcare provider.
