Do shoe designers feel compelled sometimes to go out of their way to make the wildest or weirdest shoe possible? Is it just a ploy for attention since no attention is bad attention? We all know that Alexander McQueen has made it almost predictable to art of weird and wild shoes but it seems that others are trying to jump in on this bandwagon.
Case in point, the latest shoe by shoe brand Jeffrey Campbell. The Icy Black Suede Dolls wedge booties seems like a relatively normal shoe made of leather and suede. It's what's underneath the shoe in the platform area that is a mind bender. The bottom of the platform shoe is made of clear Lucite and has heads floating in it. Yes, you read correctly; heads. Not just any heads either but more specifically, Barbie doll heads. Well, since the shoe isn't endorsed by Mattel they're branded as 'doll heads'. Six inches full of doll heads.
Creeped out yet? On first impression, you'll think...Really? And then you're next thought will probably be...Why?? But then again you might be enthralled by them and want a pair. If this is your impression then be prepared to shell out $265. Not too expensive considering some other way out there shoes will run you upwards of $500 or more. But then again, why would you want to spend money on a pair of shoes with doll heads floating around in the sole?
The Jeffrey Campbell Icy Black Suede Dolls shoe is available at Tilted Sole.
