Another outdoor family movie night in Fort Myers

Outside family movies are a part of Fort Myers' early spring where every evening is perfumed and every sky star- covered. Every month for the first three months of the year, the Alliance for the Arts will host a family movie you can watch and enjoy from the comfort of their lawn on the corner of McGregor and Colonial.

The first outdoor family movie this spring was supposed to be on January 31st with a presentation of the universal favorite – the Wizard of Oz. Unfortunately, the weather didn’t cooperate and the movie was rained out. The Alliance will try to reschedule the Wizard of Oz for the end of April.

This month (weather permitting) the Alliance will present the movie “Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2,” Movie time will be promptly at 7 p.m. on Friday, February 28, 2014. Bring blankets, bring coolers, bring beach chairs. No high concession prices, and the show and parking are completely free. The Alliance just asks for a small donation ($5 per family is suggested) but nobody is really watching , so give what you can.

The Alliance offers this brief story line:

“Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 finds Flint Lockwood (voice of Bill Hader) invited to join the Live Corp Company, and use his gift for invention for the good of mankind. Just as young Flint prepares to go to work for his hero Chester V (voice of Will Forte), however, the young genius learns that his water-to-food machine is not only still functional, but it’s also started cross-breeding animals with food. Now, in order to prevent a growing army of ‘foodimals’ from escaping isolation on an island and wreaking havoc on the mainland, Flint and his loyal group of friends will have to do battle with such delicious, but deadly, hybrids as the ferocious tacodiles, slithering apple pie-thons, and vine-swinging shrimpanzees. Saving the world from these rampaging monstrosities won’t be easy, but if anyone is up to the task, it’s Flint and company. Cody Cameron and Kris Pearn takes the reins for this sequel also featuring vocal contributions by Anna Faris, James Caan, Kristen Schaal, Terry Crews, Andy Samberg, Neil Patrick Harris, and Benjamin Bratt.”

Bring your family out to the Alliance for the Arts at 10091 McGregor Blvd (corner of Colonial Blvd), • Fort Myers, FL 33919 Phone: (239) 939-2787. FAX: (239) 939-0794. for a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
