Another Mother Lode resident missing in remote area

A local restaurant owner has now been missing for nearly a week. Last seen on April 20, 2014, Patty Tolhurst, the owner of Patty Shack's restaurant in Sonora, Ca. has not been heard from as of today, April 25th, 2014. Tolhurst's apparently abandoned vehicle has been found near Donnell Vista Point on Hwy 108 in Tuolumne County.

Tolhurst was last seen by a friend while visiting in Tuolumne, Tuolumne County. Tolhurst mentioned going hiking in the area near Donnell Vista Point, but was supposed to return within a day or two. When Tolhurst hadn't been heard from, nor had she shown up at her restaurant, she was reported as missing to the Tuolumne County Sheriff.

The disappearance of Tolhurst brings to mind for local residents the disappearance of another woman in the precisely the same area, who was reported as missing on August 9, 2005. Nita Mayo's vehicle was found at Donnell Vista Point, and as reported by the MC Independent last year, the family and authorities have never found any clues to what happened to Mayo.

Mayo's belongings, including her car keys, cell phone, and wallet were all locked inside her car. To date, no answers for the occurrence have been forthcoming despite extensive searches by both the local Search & Rescue teams, and later searches performed on behalf of and by the family.

The resemblance to the prior disappearance has local residents this reporter has spoken to, somewhat on edge.

In relation to Tolhurst, so far the search efforts performed have yielded no clues, no answers, and no results which the Sheriff's Department is making public. Social media sites such as Facebook have been used by local residents to widen the search effort.
