The ink wasn’t dry on this week’s story of Air Force Master Sgt. William Gazafi’s guilty plea for drugging and molesting children when a Washington State district judge handed down a lightweight sentence to another military man for a similar crime.
The Associated Press said today that former Joint Base Lewis-McChord Soldier Arron D. Burton was sentenced this week to 17 years in prison for producing and distributing child pornography while he lived on post in 2012.
According to the initial complaint filed by federal prosecutors, Queensland police in Australia made a child pornography arrest in March 2012, and investigation of that suspect’s emails eventually led U.S. authorities to Burton.
Investigators found child pornography sent to and from Burton’s email account in October 2012, the complaint said.
Searches of Burton’s computers and digital devices revealed dozens of still images along with some 27 videos, including one of him having sex with a three-year-old child; gender of the child was not revealed.
No rank was listed for the former JBLM Soldier.
Burton will be required to register as a sex offender when/if he gets out of prison.
