Another heavy snow storm will hit the northeast this weekend. The northeastern United States is being hit with another huge snow storm over Super Bowl weekend. The snow, in many cities started Friday morning and some cities are expecting up to 30 inches.
Snow, sleet, and freezing rain are expected in North Carolina and West Virginia and up to 8 inches of snow are expected this weekend in some areas. As with any massive snow storm power is expected to be lost in some areas.
Heavy rains are expected from northern Florida up through Virginia and up to 2-4 inches are expected in some areas.
First thing Friday morning, many government offices announced a half work day Friday because of the expected snow storm.
Snow started Friday in the Washington DC area and was expected to move north toward Philadelphia Friday evening, then continue on to New York City by Saturday morning. Heavy snow is expected throughout Saturday in the north east, and 3-6 inches are expected in New York City.
Many areas are expecting over a foot of snow including Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, southern Pennsylvania, and southern New Jersey. The snow storm will move up into the north east through Sunday.
Strong winds are also expected throughout the northeast this weekend and some areas may see high wind speeds of 45-50 mph.
Blizzard warnings have been issued for southeast New Jersey and Delaware.
Salt Lake City, Utah is also expecting snow this weekend with several storms coming one after another, beginning Friday night. Rain and snow is expecting all weekend in Salt Lake City, with 1-2 inches of snow Friday night.
