Another F1 star could be eyeing NASCAR

Brazilian Bruno Senna is keeping all his options open after losing his Formula One ride. Those options include NASCAR.

The 28 year old nephew of F1 legend Ayrton Senna lost his seat at Lotus Renault GP when he was replaced by reigning GP2 Champion Romain Grosjean.

Senna is spending the off season vying for one of two seats in F1 left at Williams and HRT. Coming off a season when his best finish was a ninth at Monza, Senna would seem to have a decent shot at one of the two remaining seats. He could also be offered the role of reserve driver. However, Senna has admitted to European media that NASCAR in America is a definite option for him.

"I don't know yet - I'm still working on next season, but as I said I think it's looking much better than last season at this same time, so let's hope we can have good news," Senna is quoted in Italian media. "It's difficult to say what's going to happen.”

Senna’s countryman Nelson Piquet Jr., went to NASCAR after his own career came to an end in 2009. Piquet is signed for a full season with Turner Motorsports in 2012 for the full Truck schedule and a partial Nationwide series schedule.

Senna admitted that his family has prevented him from considering America’s premier open wheel series, IndyCar after the tragic death of Dan Wheldon. Senna’s famous uncle was killed during an F1 race in 1994 when Bruno was 10.

Kimi Raikkonen made a brief appearance in NASCAR last season but has signed with William GP for 2012.
