A Duggar daughter is engaged: Now she can hold hands but not kiss until married

According to ET Online on Friday, another Duggar daughter is off the market. Jessa Duggar of TLC's "19 Kids & Counting" got engaged to Ben Seewald Thursday night after courting for eleven months. To celebrate the engagement, Ben presented Jessa with a pearl bracelet and a handwritten love note decorated with hearts.

TLC confirms that Jessa is the third daughter of Jim Bob, 48, and Michelle, 47 who live in Springdale, Arkansas. Fans of the show will remember that her sister Jill, 23, just got married to Derick Dillard on June 21. The wedding was attended by more than 1,000 family and friends.

Jessa and Ben said in a joint statement, "We are so blessed to be engaged!" God has written an amazing story through our courtship, and another chapter has just begun! We are thrilled to see what the future holds -- especially the wedding bells!"

Seewald will fit right in with a large family because he himself also comes from a big family. He is the oldest of seven children.

Jessa, 21, and Ben, 19, met in church and have been corresponding via text and on the telephone. Like her sister Jill and her husband Derick, Jessa and Ben have decided to save their first kiss for marriage. They only started holding hands since getting engaged last night. MSN said because of the family's rules for courtship, Jessa and Ben have only shared occasional "side hugs" until now, and they always have always had a chaperone on their dates together.

Of course Jim Bob approves of the relationship. He told "People" magazine last Sept. that Ben is the first one she has shown interest in that has a spiritual focus and legitimate calling about ministry work. The proud father admitted he checked out Ben and found not red flags. He said Ben is very sharp, and he and Jessa appear like a match made in heaven.

When Jill married a few months ago, her wedding registered head some things on it that were unique for a wedding such as a rifle, a gun, fruit loops and other cereals. We will see if Jessa will follow the example of her sister.

We will learn more about Jessa and Ben's relationship by watching "19 Kids & Counting" that starts its new season on Sep. 2 on TLC.
