Another ‘Dragon Age: Inquisition’ walkthrough released, showcases combat

Following the release of a Dragon Age: Inquisition gameplay video earlier this week, Bioware has now released a second video walkthrough following the female qunari mage that focuses on tactical combat. Narrated once more by Dragon Age Creative Director Mike Laidlaw, the developer released the new in-game footage on July 11 in order to give fans an early look at the battle system of the upcoming third installment of the popular fantasy franchise.

This time around, the video focuses heavily on combat and the story. Laidlaw speaks a little less in favor of the in-game dialogue, and players get a chance to hear Dorian and Leliana during a pivotal moment for both of them. The video displays tactical gameplay by showing Iron Bull being sent to choke points before the fight even begins. The tactical view is even used to inspect an enemy’s weakness to cold damage beforehand letting a mage damage him accordingly.

A fair amount of conversations are explored, as well. It’s noted companions and advisors are fully realized characters with their own motives and opinions. For example, Leliana isn’t exactly a fan of mages and she lets Dorian, a mage, know it. All the while, the video shows the party stand up to someone of Dorian’s past which leads to some unfortunate consequences for the whole group.

Dragon Age: Inquisition will release on Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC on Oct. 9. The game will also be available on last-gen platforms releasing on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 at the same time. Like many upcoming Electronic Arts published titles, including Bioware’s new Mass Effect project, Dragon Age: Inquisition is being developed using the Frostbite 3 engine. The game will feature a much larger game world than previous installments and will add player mounts to help traverse the bigger environments.
