With three days to go before the competition, the 2012 American Cup lineup has reached what should be its final incarnation.
This morning, USA Gymnastics announced that Canadian national champion Jackson Payne will replace France's Cyril Tommasone, who withdrew earlier this week. Tommasone, the leader of the French men's team and reigning World silver medalist on pommel horse, has been struggling with a foot injury.
Other 2012 American Cup might-have-beens are Nadine Jarosch (replaced by Canada's Victoria Moors) and Philipp Boy (replaced by Ryuzo Sejima of Japan).
The U.S.'s Gabrielle Douglas and Chris Brooks are the American reserve athletes, and both will compete an exhibition all-around competition, meaning that they will perform on every event but their scores will not count.
