While it was announced last month that "Another Castle" would be making its way to the Wii U eShop, it looks like there's some incompatibility issues when it comes to what gamers hoped would be a release on the Nintendo 3DS. According to an interview with developer David Byers released on March 19, the game engine for “Another Castle” does not support the handheld gaming device, and thus the game will not be made available for the 3DS.
“Unfortunately the game engine I’m using doesn’t support the 3DS. I’m also developing the game for a LOT of different platforms, so adding any more at this point might be too much.”
- David Byers
Uncade, the publisher and developer for the retro-style platformer game, is well-versed and experienced with mobile devices and developing mobile games, thus making many suspect that a handheld port of the game would be a shoo-in. But it would appear that this title has little hope for a 3DS development now, given the busy schedule of Byers.
“Another Castle” is set to be released sometime in 2014.
