Another Beauty For Sunday!

Climate report for Saturday
Climate report for Saturday
Scott Derek

The average high at Philly International Airport for late June is 86 while the average low is 67; for Saturday we had a sun-filled day with a high recorded of 87 after a low of 66...that's pretty much as good as average you can get!

High pressure is still nestled on top of the region, but warmer air is just inching to get closer

Overnight it will be mostly clear with lows in the middle 60s; Sunday's another sun-filled day with clouds in the afternoon once we reach our convective temperature(the estimated temperature that the surface must warm to in order for clouds to develop). Highs will be in the middle 80s with a light southerly wind, but if you head down the shore there will be a sea breeze coming off of the lower 70-degree ocean.

After lows overnight Sunday into the lower 60s we'll have a warm front trying to progress northward on Monday so we'll have sunshine giving way to clouds in the afternoon with showers and thunderstorms possible as highs will be in the upper 80s. Tuesday will be into the lower 90s with heat and humidity returning and also a weak cold front trying to push through as well; this will lead to some showers and thunderstorms pushing through in the afternoon.

The issue is that the front washes itself out so we stay hot and humid on Wednesday with highs into the middle 90s and then on Thursday a more potent front will inch closer to the region. A shower/thunderstorm threat will be back in the afternoon with highs in the lower 90s and unfortunately the front lingers around for Independence Day as well with highs in the middle 80s. If there is one silver lining to this there has been talk of a tropical system forming off of the Carolina coastline; the front would help steer it away from our region(if you looked at the afternoon European model it showed it climbing up the coast, but the ensembles had it to the east).

Of course I'll keep you posted on the 4th of July weekend in the days ahead, but for now you can check out the rest of the 7-day forecast(any time) at
