On October 2 94/7 FM KNRK Program Director Mark Hamilton sat in with morning DJ Greg Glover and announced the 17-band line up for this year’s People’s Choice December to Remember concerts series. The span of show will cover 10 nights beginning December 1, marking the official start of another great feature showcase of alternative music the station has built on over the last nine years. It will be interesting to see if there any Grammy nomination’s come out of this year’s group and follow last year’s two Grammy nominations, (for Best New Artist, winner FUN. and The Lumineers). This year’s series features a solid line up of bands with an international flare.
Kicking off the series is NBHD (aka The Neighbourhood) and will be followed by FOALS, Alt-J, The Mowgli’s & Said The Whale, Vampire Weekend and Tame Impala, Grouplove and MS MR, Young The Giant, Fitz and the Tantrums with The Features, Bastille and NONONO, Phoenix, and finally Portugal, The Man. Director Hamilton also indicated there was on band yet to be announced as a final agreement is still in the works. He will make that announcement once finalized. All shows will be at the Crystal Ballroom except for Foals who will be playing the Wonder Ballroom.
As expected, tickets have gone fast and all shows will sell out. The first to go was Bastille and NONONO, which sold out within hours of the station’s announced presale that started at 10am October 2. Alt-J, Vampire Weekend and Tame Impala, and Grouplove and MS MR sold-out within the next day of the presale. NBHD and Phoenix shows have also sold out since tickets went on sale to the general public October 7. If you have any interest in seeing the remaining bands, get your tickets now, online or the Crystal Ballroom or Wonder Ballroom box offices.
