Sarasota, Fla. – (June 26, 2014) – The balance of 2014 offers an opportunity to double your pleasure, double your fund(ing).

The simple joy of adding a new pet member to your family is always a great feeling, and even more so when that animal comes from a shelter or rescue and is getting the forever home they deserve. Now your joy can be multiplied and shared with needy cats that you may never see or know.

A generous anonymous donor has pledged that for each cat adopted from Cat Depot, a $10.00 donation will be made to the “Friends Like Me” program

Friends Like Me is a program that provides emergency medical care and treatment to Cat Depot cats and kittens who are sick, injured or have chronic illnesses. To further the impact of this effort, the donor is also challenging the community to match the pledge at $10, or for as little as $1.00 per cat, to help with surgery, x-rays, special food and medications.

“We are grateful for this generous and creative pledge. The challenge will not only encourage more adoptions, but supply greatly needed funds for medical care,” said Shelley Thayer, executive director. “Last year we adopted 846 cats and kittens, and we anticipate finding homes for over 900 this year. We encourage supporters to step up and join the adoption pledge challenge.”

If you’ve been contemplating adding a forever-cat to your family, now is a great time to do it and not only end up helping that particular cat, but untold others as well.
