AnonPlus, the Anti-Social network

Anonymous has announced their latest project: AnonPlus, an Anonymous Social Network. The website hopes to rival giants like Google+ and Facebook by promising no blackouts, no censorship, and no identity. Beyond that promise and a home page, the networking site does not exist.

The idea apparently started over the banning of several Anonymous related accounts from Google+. As Presstorm.com writes:

[YourAnonNews] got banned from Google+ due to some of their content. What they didn’t know at the time is that they were just one of a handfull of Anonymous accounts that were silenced. This is the sad fact that happens across the internet when you march to a different beat of the drum. We’ve all heard the stories of activists being banned from FaceBook, Twitter, and Governments blocking their people from these sites as well through organized black outs. That day has came to an end. Not only did a few people organized an Operation against Google+, but we have started to build our own Social Network.

No press release has been given beyond the front page, and no information has been made public beyond what is available in the development forums. The development community has its own channel on irc.mibbit.com called #psinnovation, where they were able to answer some questions about the program.

Examiner: Is there a release date for AnonPlus?

Ghostpickles: As it is right now, we just started programming/coding a few days ago, itll take a little while

Examiner: Do you consider yourself to be a part of Anonymous?

Ghostpickles: I consider myself a free thinker and an activist for human rights, part of Anon

Dilmunite: A part of anonymous? oy! I don't think so. I've never been part of any organizations- loose as they might be :)- though I'm entirely sympathetic to anonymous. For a variety of reasons my activism, which has been by no means only virtual, has never been anonymous in anyway

Examiner: Why do you believe that Anonymous was banned from Google+?

Ghostpickles: I guess they didn't like what was being posted. You'd have to ask Google+

Augusto: It's because they carried the branding of "Anonymous"

flig: F!@k Google+

Dilmunite: Yeah I'm not joining this google+ or returning to Facebook anytime soon

Examiner: If AnonPlus has no content moderation, what stops it from becoming just another porn site?

Ghostpickles: The U.S. gov't defines porn by anything that uses sex without artistic merit. So there goes 80% of all advertising.

flig: I hopefully will be able to post porn.

King: Hey wait. If there's no content moderation, what happens when people post CP?

Examiner: Would anyone on here be upset if AnonPlus became another 4chan?

Ghostpickles: Content wise it'll be all up to the users, but we are encouraging people to come here and have open discussions and debate intelligently

Whatever becomes of this new project, Anonymous is sure to renew its rockstar status and draw controversial attention. The Examiner.com will keep you updated. Comments and questions can be left below.
