Science Fiction and Steampunk enthusiasts in the Denver area have an event to look forward to this month. The Denver Tech Center DoubleTree Hotel welcomes the third annual AnomalyCon March 29-31. For those unfamiliar with the Steampunk sensation, the best way to describe it is with a reference to Will Smith's movie Wild, Wild West. The Steampunk concept is a Victorian Sci-Fi “what if.” What if we lived in a world where steam technology had developed instead of diesel? This fun filled fantasy weekend includes a costume contest, Doctor Horrible Sing-Along Blog presentation, musicians, artists, and authors to meet and greet. Tickets available at the door are priced very reasonably for $35 for the weekend, $20 for Saturday, and $15 for Friday or Sunday only. Be sure to bring along the kids as there will be some fun children’s programming.
Music and entertainment is a big part of AnomalyCon. Not only will the audience get to sing along with Doctor Horrible, they will enjoy performances by PlasmaCrash, the Vagabond Mistfits, Pandora Celtica, and even a formal dance to progressive The Silent Still band. Other activities will include a Tea Dueling Competition with Jon Magnificent
There will be a writing room with workshops, writing prompts, and expert advice from known authors. Author David Boop rejoins Anomaly Con this year as their official Master of Ceremonies. So wear your best Neo-Victorian costumes with all the accessories and share a weekend with old friends and making new ones.
