On the last Saturday of April each year at 10 am, about 1 million people from more than 70 countries are expected to practice the peaceful moves of Tai Chi. In its 13th year, it is a celebration of World Tai Chi & Chi Kung Day to project a unified, healing image for all to see and experience.
The annual World Tai Chi Day is officially recognized by the United Nations World Health Organization and aims to promote and educate the world to the benefits of practicing Tai Chi. Research has shown that the relaxed, slow, graceful, balanced, and coordinated movements of Tai Chi can increase the flow of Chi (energy), reduce anxiety, depression, and chronic pain conditions. It can boost the immune system, improve respiratory function, burn calories, dramatically improve balance, improve cardiovascular benefit, provide powerful stress management tools, and slow aspects of the aging process.
The City of Hialeah provides Tai Chi classes for developmentally disabled adults 18 to 65 years of age taught by Miami-Dade County Public Schools. Since it is not available to everyone, here is a great way to learn Tai Chi in the comfort of your home that includes free membership.
