FURever Friends Humane Society will hold its entertaining and popular Pet Fashion Show March 17 at the Coca-Cola Entertainment Stage in Central City Park.

The event is a staple at the annual Cherry Blossom Festival.

The show will be held from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., and the entry fee is $5. The fee can be paid at the show. First place winners in the Best Kimono, Most Unusual and Pet/Owner Lookalike categories receive a cash prize of $25.

After the regular fashion show, a special fashion show featuring adoptable pets from area rescue groups will be held.

All entrants are eligible to win the Doggie Dazzle Queen or King crown, which comes with a trophy.

If you plan to bring your pet to compete in the fashion show, or if you are just planning to take your pet to the festival, keep these tips in mind:

  • Maintain control of your pet. A 4- to 6-foot leash rather than a retractable leash is best.
  • Clean up after your pet.
  • Make sure your pet is up-to-date on vaccines and has a rabies tag. Don't bring puppies younger than 4 months old.
  • Leave aggressive pets at home, for safety's sake.
  • Keep an eye on your pet and don't hesitate to intervene if a person or another animal approaches your pet inappropriately.
