Tomorrow's annual capitol day on Tuesday May 13th, 2014, is expected to be the largest Muslim Capitol Day gathering in Michigan since its founding in 2012.

The event is being hosted by the Michigan Muslim Community Council (MMCC), and 39 elected bi-partisan officials as co-hosts, with Emmy-Award winning Senior Producer, Carol Cain, participating as the emcee.

Official reports state that the main goal for holding the annual Michigan Muslim Capitol Day, and other Muslim Capitol Days nationwide, is to "help maintain healthy relationships with elected officials" and to let them know "we are here to support them and to improve the lives of all Michiganders, Muslims and non-Muslims alike, so that we may help Michigan move forward."

Tents have already been set up at the State Capitol in Lansing to allow for a casual environment which will include, food, speakers and activities for the over one hundred youth that are planning to attend. Simultaneously, event organizers plan to facilitate meetings between constituents and community members with their state representatives and senators during the six hour event.

Last year's Capitol Day on May 28th was touted a huge success with almost 200 people attending. The common theme seemed to be that Michigan's Muslims are diverse and engaged with their community, with great projects and ideas to make Michigan a better place for all.

According to the MMCC Governor Rick Snyder and the Attorney General Bill Schuette have issued welcome letters to the organization in response to their efforts and involvement.

Those interested in coming out to the event may register for this year's Michigan Muslim Capitol Day at $20 adults, $15 college students

The Annual Michigan Muslim Capitol Day: Michigan Muslims for a Better Michigan will be held on Tuesday May 13th, 2013 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the State Capitol in Lansing and hosted by Michigan Muslim Community Council.
