Anne Wilson, CEO of United Way Bay Area, is a local leader I've admired for years. She was kind enough to take time out of her schedule to share her thoughts on where nonprofit leaders should focus their energies, given the devastated economy.
I also learned about UWBA's recent initiatives, including the 211 call-in system, a survival guide connecting those in need with direct community services, such as counseling, food and shelter.
While Anne expressed her gratitude to the many volunteers, philanthropists and nonprofits she collaborates with, the Bay Area is, indeed, fortunate to have such a dedicated and passionate advocate as Anne to be driving solutions to help everyone in our communities create the building blocks of a good life.
