Anne Rice knows vampire fans will enjoy annual ball in New Orleans

August 16, 2011.  Anne Rice mentioned her New Orleans fans today as she posted an embedded video featuring the upcoming Theatre of the Vampires Ball to her Facebook page.

Anne Rice's Vampire Lestat Fan Club (ARVLFC) has hosted an annual ball in honor of the author for more than two decades.  This year is no exception with the upcoming Theatre of the Vampires Ball.

Sue Quiroz, Anne's former personal assistant of 15 years, is the fan club president.  She sent Anne the video commercial for the 2011 ball on August 16, and only a few hours later Anne posted the video to her Facebook page with this message:

The Anne Rice Vampire Lestat Fan Club formed many years ago in New Orleans, and they are still doing the annual Hallowe'en Ball. Though I can't attend, they party on, with people coming from all over the world. Here is their video for the October 2011 Ball. I know there are a lot of vampire fans out there who would enjoy this.  --Anne Rice

The video features commentary from Dacre Stoker, Bram Stoker's great grand nephew.  Dacre attended the 2010 ball in New Orleans and gave a presention on the novel he co-wrote with vampire historian Ian Holt.

Dracula:  The Un-Dead by D. Stoker and Holt is the official Stoker family endorsed sequel to Bram's Dracula.  Dacre was also a guest of the ARVLFC's premiere convention, the Undead Con, along with other beloved vampire authors including Karen Essex, Jude Stephens and Gabrielle Faust.

Videotaped and edited by Keith Charlet, the video features music composed by Tim Curry of Sapphire Rebellion, with cameo appearances by Ruby Ruin of Saints of Ruin and Cher Groves of the ARVLFC.  Photos of costumed ball attendees stream to the beat of Curry’s music as part of a slideshow montage towards the end.

The Theatre of the Vampires Ball takes place on Friday, October 28, 2011 with special guest author Laurell K. Hamilton.  The Undead Con II runs from Friday, October 28 through Saturday, October 29 and will feature authors Mike and Cynthia Arsuaga, Lewis Aleman, Kurt Amacker, Kelly Armstrong, Miguel Conner, Charles Gramlich, Jude Stephens, and more.  There will also be a wine tasting and cocktail party.  For more information, go to www.ARVLFC.com
