book page.

Author Anne Rice made a very bold announcement this week through her Facebook page, "Today I quit being a Christian. I'm out."

She clarified her statement by posting, "In the name of Christ, I refuse to be anti-gay. I refuse to be anti-feminist. I refuse to be anti-artificial birth control. I refuse to be anti-Democrat. I refuse to be anti-secular humanism. I refuse to be anti-science. I refuse to be anti-life. In the name of ...Christ, I quit Christianity and being Christian. Amen."

Her publisher, Alfred A Knopf, confirmed that the postings were made by Ms. Rice and reflect her true feelings.

Ms. Rice is the author of An Interview with a Vampire and the other novels in the Lestat series.

You can find Anne Rice on her Facebook page. And if you're interested in reading her books, you can find them through any online bookseller as well as locally through Half Price Books on Sir Barton Way, Barnes & Noble at the Hamburg Pavillion Shopping Center, or Joseph-Beth Booksellers in the Lexington Green Mall.

Not really a surprise when you realize that pretty much everything she's ever written under any of her pseudonyms, including her "Jesus" books fly in face of her professed Roman Catholic beliefs and Roman Catholic doctrine.

Well said. I believe I agree. Jesus would not be pleased with what has been done in His name.

One can still believe without partaking in the foolishness that are the cherry-picked rules.

    Matthew 13

1The same day went Jesus out of the house, and sat by the sea side.

2And great multitudes were gathered together unto him, so that he went into a ship, and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore.

    3And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow;

4And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up:

5Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth:

6And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.

7And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them:

8But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.

9Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

10And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?

11He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.

12For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.

13Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.

14And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:

15For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

16But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.

blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.

17For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.

18Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower.

19When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.

    20But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it;

21Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.

22He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.

Im sorry - I cannot stop thinking bout this-
Maybe Anne it is because you accepted something Jesus is not. Jesus is not a love feeling parade. It is not a political legislation. It is not a place that has a tangible kingdom. The doctrine you submit to is one that says the world was made "whole" when Our Father The Creator made it. But sin caused death. So the fracture in an awesome earth is because of sin. But Jesus filled that gap . He is the Word become flesh and was with GOD int he beginning. He is equated to God to die for our sin. Became the lamb unto Himself (God) to repair the worst thing that happened to all mankind's inheritance. When you are truly saved you hate sin when Holy spirit enters your body, which Father designed to bring the church to wherever people His followers reside. You will be hating sin, but certainly loving others doing unto others, us followers struggle with that and sometimes get vocal about the sin and madness accepted by the Vanity Fair society. But w

Receive grace like anyone. Christ followers just want to lead people away from the deception of sin and the lead them to the true reward and promise of God, the journey to the promised land is through the One who takes us out of the slavery of sin.

God screwed up so many times that he has to be a joke. 1. A fallen angel, Satan. 2. Adam and Eve (created in his image) go 'bad' right away. 3. Cain kills Abel. 4. Moses and the Jews in the desert get so bad that they need a rock tablet with ten rules. 5. God drowns everyone except Noah and his family and two each of the millions of species on earth. 6. Sodom and Gomorah destroyed and 7. A hell for the rest of heathens. Holy crap!

Excellent. More and more are realizing how immoral, archaic and utterly absurd Christianity and all mystical thinking is. We are still in the dark ages but slowly, very slowly moving out. Science is a candle in the dark.

    Anne Rice is correct

    Faith-in-Christ is NOT tied
    to man-controlled 'Religion'

A RELATIONSHIP w/ God (as given
VIA CHRIST Jesus, God The Son) is
NOT reliant on "church" or “religion”

If Christ were on earth today, many
    religious-types would ‘still’ seek to
crucify Him (just based on who He
chose as His FRIENDS -- women,
    gays, foreigners, the rejected, the
    poor, rich, old, young, etc)

The "evangelical" ilk (not to be mistaken
for any TRUE FOLLOWERS of Christ)
and other "church" types have basically
    hijacked the Christian-'Faith' of love
to turn it into a mammon-worshipping,
    power-mongering "Religion" of hate

They are more akin to being ANTI-CHRIST
    (“against”-Christ) than anything related to
WHO CHRIST IS and their evil has reached
such levels that ‘All Who Love Christ’ are
turned off from these self-righteous Pharisees

    GOD (thru CHRIST) HAS OPENLY
    SHOWN HIS LOVE TO 'EVERYONE’
(no matter if rich, poor, gay, straight, male,
female, sickly, healthy, etc) VIA CHRIST
(not the so-called "church") WHO IS
'THE DOOR' and 'THE WAY' TO GOD

ALL ARE WELCOME TO APPROACH and
ENTER THROUGH 'THE DOOR' TO GOD

    JESUS CHRIST LOVES EVERYONE
    AND REJECTS NO ONE

    John 3:17:
“For GOD did NOT send His Son
    into the world TO CONDEMN
the world, BUT that the world,
    THRU HIM, might BE SAVED

    JESUS CHRIST (not “church”
    or “christianity”) IS THE WAY
    THE TRUTH and THE LIFE

    TRUE ‘FAITH’ RELIES IN
    AND IS BASED ON JESUS
    AND JESUS CHRIST ALONE
