Actress Anne Hathaway took home her first Academy Award on Sunday night (Feb. 24), winning the 2013 Oscar for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her work in "Les Miserables."
It was her second nomination, and she beat out veteran performers including Sally Field, Helen Hunt, Amy Adams and Jacki Weaver for the honor. "It came true," she marveled upon receiving the statue at the podium.
She also praised her fellow nominees, saying, "I look up to you all so much, and it's such an honor."
Hathaway went on to thank Hugh Jackman, her professional team, friends and family. She also thanked her husband, gushing, "By far and away the greatest moment of my life was the one when you walked into it. I love you so much."
The actress ended on a poignant note about her character, saying, "Here's hoping that someday in the not-too-distant future, the misfortunes of Fantine will only be found in stories, and nevermore in real life."
