It has been announced that Anne Hathaway will play Catwoman in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming batman movie, The Dark Knight Rises. Hathaway, whose movies have not been huge blockbusters, has been praised by critics regarding her getting cast in the role that was once filled by the likes of Michelle Pfeiffer and Halle Berry.
The world of blogs has shown mixed emotion regarding the news of Hathaway’s new role, one from Atlanta said, “Anne Hathaway? I think Keira Knightley should have gotten cast first.” While others seem excited to see their favorite Princess Diaries star cast in a more adult feature stating, “Wow, I’m glad someone put in an adult film, the love movie was a disaster and she needs to lose that Princess Diaries innocence if she wants to survive her acting career,” says a fan from the northern Atlanta area.
Though the emotions seem to be very mixed with likes and dislikes, it is agreed that the same mixed reviews came to the late Heath Ledger upon the announcement of his playing The Joker in The Dark Knight. The question stands if Hathaway’s performance will surprise the audience as Ledger’s did with The Joker.
Who won’t be in the movie?
Hathaway will join returning actor, Christian Bale as Batman in the series. However, last month Aaron Eckhart spoke to MTV news and expressed is utter disappointment that his character, Harvey Dent aka Two-Face, would not be returning to screen in this installment. This is what Eckhart had to say about the conversation he had with Christopher Nolan, "Chris and I had a meeting, on the beach, just the two of us," the Two Face actor said on Thursday. "I said, ‘Chris, a lot of people are asking me if I'm in the next Batman.' And Chris said, ‘Yes?' I said, ‘Am I?' He looked at me and he said, ‘No.' ... I was heartbroken. But Chris has his reasons and my life must go on."
