Anne Hathaway had a close call. She decided to go swimming in Hawaii but the exercise was anything but refreshing. In fact, the Oscar nominee almost drowned due to a particularly strong riptide. Enter a friendly surfer who scooped her up and took her to safety on the sand. But that was just the beginning of this sad story.

According to TMZ on Jan. 9, when the actress was on in the water, she apparently cut her foot on a local Oahu reef. Blood spurted freely out of her appendage and so her husband, Adam Schulman, decided to suck her toe in order to get the toxins out as much as possible.

Holy Quentin Tarantino!

Although all this was harrowing for the lovely Hathaway, she rallied after all the attention afforded her and even was said to be ready for her closeup only hours after this potential catastrophe.

And so, after Anne Hathaway nearly drowned and after her husband toe sucked the Oscar nominee back to health, this celebrity was able to continue on with her holiday in Oahu, Hawaii.
