Anna Wintour no longer considered for U.K. Ambassador job

News broke today that Anna Wintour is no longer considered for the U.K. Ambassador position. The New York Mag reported the news on Jan. 21. This announcement comes on the day of the big presidential inauguration in Washington, D.C.

It's reported that the editor-in-chief of Vogue magazine couldn't afford the job. Nick Confessore, writer of the New York Times, let the news slip on his Twitter account. He added that the fashion mogul "played the game well." She knew how to market for the position, while angering people at the same time.

A fashion critic from WWD wrote that Wintour never really wanted the gig. She was just using it as a platform for contract negotiations in Conde.

It's also possible that she ruined her chance at the U.K. Ambassador position. It was reported that Anna would sit for the U.S. chair in Great Britain or France. She was hoping to step down from her position at Vogue to make her move to England.

Anna Wintour remains as editor-in-chief at Vogue magazine. It looks like the U.K. Ambassador is still up for gigs. Fashion fans are wondering who will take the coveted position.
