Anna Sui is not too crazy about the diva designers on the Lifetime show, "Project Runway." She gave a revealing interview to UpStart Business Journal on Jan. 14. She said that she was turned off by how the budding fashion designers acted on the show.
The designer was once a guest judge on the hit competition show last September. She observed some of the designers' behaviors and didn't like what she saw. She said that she wasn't sure if the drama was real or not, but she felt that it was misguiding their energy.
Sui also told the New York Daily News that the show skews the views of how designers act. She's afraid that the show tells other budding designers that it's okay to act like a cutthroat competitor. She wishes that the designers would focus on their craft rather than duel it out with each other.
Anna Sui also doesn't like creating her designs on computers and tablets. She prefers pencil and paper. The designer is afraid that anyone watching "Project Runway" will "think they can make a dress on the computer" to become a fashion designer.
