Anna Ramsey leads Narraguagus to victory over PCHS

GUILFORD- Anna Ramsey recorded 14 points, 12 rebounds, and six steals to lead the Narraguagus Knights girls basketball team to a 42-36 victory over the PCHS (Piscataquis community high school) Pirates on Saturday afternoon.

Ramsey scored the first four points for the Knights as they took a 4-2 lead. They would hold that lead for the full 32 minutes.

Narraguagus scored the first eight points of the second quarter to take an 18-9 lead.

The Knights built the lead to 25-15 going into halftime.

Ramsey had 10 points, eight rebounds, and five steals in the first half.

Narraguagus took their biggest lead (36-24) of the game, when Caryl Ann Young hit a jumper with 2:15 remaining in the third quarter.

The Pirates cut the lead to 38-34 when Delani Bennett made a layup with 3:35 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Bennett hit two free throws with 1:53 remaining to trim the Knights lead to 38-36.

Kelli Kennedy hit a big basket and Ramsey made two free throws in the final minute to secure the victory for the Knights.

The Pirates were limited because of foul trouble throughout the game.

Alex Speed and Bennett both were in foul trouble for the entire second half. Speed fouled out with 4:09 remaining in the fourth quarter.

A total of 31 fouls were called on the Pirates, 16 were called on the Knights.

Young chipped in with 11 points, four assists, and four steals for the Knights.

Kelli Kennedy and Cassidy Osgood added seven points each. Kenndy also recorded seven rebounds, five assists, five steals, and one block.

Karmen Kennedy scored three points and pulled down five rebounds.

Narraguagus (4-1) is scheduled to travel to Washington Academy on Monday afternoon.

Jordynne Littlefield led the Pirates with 12 points and six rebounds. Bennett recorded eight points, nine rebounds, and two assists.

Mikayla Dow chipped in with eight points, six rebounds, and four steals. Speed scored five points and dished out five assists.

Kyla Desmarais added two points, while Haylee Patterson scored one point for the Pirates.

PCHS (5-2) is scheduled to host Foxcroft Academy on Monday evening.
