According to Variety on Dec. 20, Anna Paquin, known for her role as Rogue in the previous "X-Men" films and HBO's "True Blood", was cut out of "X-Men: Days of Future Past". Bryan Singer stated that there was only one scene with Paquin and considering there was so much going on in the film, he had deemed it unnecessary for her to be in the movie.
“Through the editing process, the sequence became extraneous,” explains Singer. “It’s a really good sequence and it will probably end up on the DVD so people can see it. But like many things in the editing process, it was an embarrassment of riches and it was just one of the things that had to go. Unfortunately, it was the one and only sequence Anna Paquin was in, the Rogue character was in. Even though she’s in the materials and part of the process of making the film, she won’t appear in it".
Singer also mentioned that she'll likely wind up in a deleted scene for the Blu-ray version. Fortunately, a good amount of returning actors and actresses will be debuting in this time paradoxical mash-up both young and old. Though Logan, played by Hugh Jackman, will appear the same at any age.
For those who aren't familiar with the Rogue character, she has the mutant ability to absorb other mutants' powers by simple skin-to-skin contact. In the previous films, this had proven to be a blessing and a curse since she was frustrated by the challenge of not being able to achieve physical touch for those she cared about.
“X-Men: Days of Future Past” will be released on May 23, 2014.
