Anna Nicole Smith opera announced with Dutch Eva-Maria Westbroek; Will appear in SF in "Die Walkure"

Anna Nicole Smith the opera has been announced by the Royal Opera House at Covent Garden for February 2011 with Dutch soprano Eva-Maria Westbroek in the title role.  Here's the blurb from the website.

Eva-Maria, announced San Francisco Opera today, will appear this June in San Francisco Opera's production of Wagner's Die Walkure as Sieglinde--the incestuous twin who falls in love with her long-lost brother and has his child, to be the leader of the free world.

A world premiere on the fascinating subject of Anna Nicole Smith. A model for Playboy, marriage to an octogenarian billionaire, scandal, legal battles and early death – this is the real-life story that has inspired Mark-Anthony Turnage’s new opera. Inevitably adult themes, strong language and sexually explicit content are part of this exciting work. Richard Jones directs this major new opera, with Antonio Pappano conducting a cast that has Eva-Maria Westbroek in the title role.

San Francisco Opera announced this afternoon, Eva-Maria Westbroek will make her San Francisco Opera debut as Sieglinde. Westbroek has previously appeared as Sieglinde with the Royal Opera, Covent Garden and at the Salzburg, Bayreuth and Aix-en-Provence Festivals.
