The 65th annual Primetime Emmy Awards took place on Sept. 22, 2013, at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles. Here is what this Emmy winner said backstage in the Emmy Awards press room.
ANNA GUNN
Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series
Does this Emmy Award feel like vindication after all the hatred toward your "Breaking Bad" character Skyler White?
It just feels tremendous. It's been the most remarkable ride to be on this show. And I couldn't be more thrilled. I'm overwhelmed. I'm very happy. But yes, I'm glad there are people out there who enjoy Skyler as well. What the Skyler haters do, they do. It doesn't have anything to do with me.
What were you feeling when you did the knife scene in "Breaking Bad"?
First of all, I was very excited because the boys do the stunts all the time, so I was extremely excited to get to do a stunt. And we did a lot of takes of that, so I got a little sore. But I felt it was the culmination of what Skyler had to endure for five seasons, and she finally drew a line in the sand and said, "You will not hurt another member of my family." So there was a tremendous release, and it was actually really cathartic.
What designer are you wearing? And who helped put your look together?
It was a couple of hours, two-and-a-half hours. I am wearing Irene Neuwirth jewels. Romona Keveza is the [designer of] the gown. It's absolutely gorgeous. And I had beautiful hair-and-makeup people getting me all done. It didn't take that long. It was two-and-a-half hours. It was fun!
What was your first thought when you woke up today?
Just that I really wanted to enjoy the day with my "Breaking Bad" family. I had the best time with them, and it's another time for us to get together and celebrate. I miss them tremendously. So any chance I have to get together with them and party and celebrate is wonderful. That was my first thought.
