Today is Labor Day, September 1st. For many in our country, today is just another holiday before school begins. For millions, it’s a time for one last summer fling, one last family picnic, or one more backyard barbeque before fall begins.

But for Billy Graham’s daughter, Anne Graham Lotz, today is hardly a day for business as usual. Having sensed an urgent, specific call of God to pray for Israel in these violent, volatile days, Ms. Lotz has rallied Christians around the nation, indeed believers from around the world, to make 9/11/14 a special day of prayer and fasting. According to the 911 Prayer for Jerusalem website, today's prayers for the peace of Jerusalem echo those of King David in Psalm 122:6 as he exhorted all Israel to “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem.” As such, Ms. Lotz prayer directives center around four major themes:

  1. Prayer for God to pour out a Spirit of grace and supplication on the inhabitants of Jerusalem and all of Israel
  2. Prayer for God to open their eyes to recognize their Messiah, Yeshua, is Jesus Christ
  3. Prayer for God to break their hearts for their sin and rejection of Christ
  4. Prayer for God to save all Israel spiritually and physically as they cry out to Him

To join Anne Graham Lotz and pray on behalf of those living in His Holy land, simply register at their site. Text of today’s prayer will be sent via email.

“And I will pour out on…the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication. They will look on me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a first born son. On that day the weeping in Jerusalem will be great…each clan by itself…And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written: ‘The deliverer will come from Zion; he will turn godlessness away from Jacob. And this is my covenant with them when I take away their sins.’” Zechariah 12:10-12 and Romans 11:26-27
