Ann Curry wants to leave NBC in the worst way, and is reportedly begging her bosses at the peacock network to fire her. While this may seem quite an irrational approach to take, Ann is said to have her sights set on working at CNN.
According to Radar Online, Curry wants to leave NBC following her demotion from the “Today” show. To make the CNN drop even more attractive, Ann is interested in joining forces with her former boss at NBC, Jeff Zucker, who has now made the move to CNN.
"Ann wants out of her contract, big time. She has formally asked her attorney to explore exit options from the network. However, NBC bosses have indicated they are unwilling to release Ann from the contract. If Ann were to just quit, there is a non-compete clause, which would prohibit her from working for another news outlet for two years,” a source has told Radar in confidence.
What’s unique about the Ann Curry circumstance is how it has since impacted Matt Lauer. Many fans of “Today” ruthlessly blame Matt Lauer for Curry getting canned from the “Today” show.
But it hasn’t gotten any better for Lauer himself lately, who reportedly is being screamed at by people on the street who believe he was directly responsible for ousting Curry from her seat. Lauer is said to not only be upset by the rude encounters, but genuinely “miserable” because of it.
