Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart to speak and perform at Rock Hall this month

Is Heart being considered for the next wave of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductions?

Here’s a step in the right direction.

As part of the Rock Hall’s “Legends Series” the band’s co-founding sisters, Ann and Nancy Wilson will be interviewed by a member of the Rock Hall staff on Tuesday, August 23rd at 7:00pm inside the Foster Theater (4th Floor).

The Wilsons will also take questions from the audience at the end of the interview followed by a live acoustic performance.  Best of all, this event is absolutely free.  All you need to do is email the Rock Hall at edu@rockhall.org to RSVP or call 216-515-8426.  If the event sells out, you can watch it live via the internet by going to rockhall.com.

In an era where the only female rockers were mostly singers (with all due respect to Carole King), Ann and Nancy Wilson rocked the charts in the 1970’s with hits like “Barracuda”, “Crazy On You”, and “Magic Man”, busting out of the Vancouver and Seattle music scene by not only writing their own songs but playing several instruments including guitar, piano, flute and more. Sounding alot like a female Led Zeppelin, they switched gears from their success in the 70’s with two pop monsters of the 80’s that spawned  “Alone”, “If Looks Could Kill”, “Never”, “These Dreams” and “What About Love”.

Still going strong nearly 35 years later, Ann and Nancy Wilson cracked the Billboard Top 10 in 2010 with Heart’s “Red Velvet Car” album and a Top 5 DVD “Night At Sky Church”.   They’ve also performed together as “The Lovemongers”.  In their career, they’ve sold more than 35 million albums.  And, if you are a fan of VH1’s “Behind The Music”, I highly recommend viewing the rock documentary about Heart.

Ann and Nancy Wilson are featured in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum’s latest special exhibit, Women Who Rock: Vision, Passion, Power, the world’s first major museum exhibit devoted to celebrating the female spirit in rock and roll. Highlighted in the I Will Survive: the 1970s – Rockers to Disco Divas era of the exhibition,Heart artifacts include Ann Wilson’s dress (c. 1976) worn on tour after the release of Heart’s debut album, Dreamboat Annie; Nancy Wilson’s dress from the cover of Rolling Stone magazine in 1977; and Nancy’s Kramer American Series electric guitar (c. 1987) played on the group’s 1988 Bad Animals tour.

Ann and Nancy Wilson will also be featured in the PBS special  "Women Who Rock" (airing Friday November 18 at 9 p.m. on PBS stations nationwide.
