On Wednesday, a Community Field Representative for Guide Dogs for the Blind, Texas, announced that "Anka," the lost Labrador retriever, has been found.
The circumstances of her recovery are heartwarming.
Anka was rescued by a man who found her near a busy road. The man immediately took her to a veterinarian and she received a full exam, including vaccinations and heartworm medication.
This morning, as searchers were mobilizing to head out again, the man called to let them know that he had seen the news report on Tuesday evening and he had the missing dog.
This good Samaritan even declined the substantial reward.
Sandi, the Guide Dogs Community field representative, stated:
Our heartfelt thank you goes out to EVERYONE that has shared this story, made calls, checked out local shelters, prayed etc....
This really was a community effort.I speak for Guide Dogs for the Blind when I say a VERY big Thank You to everyone.
Anka disappeared back on March 7, and a desperate search to bring her back home has been underway ever since.
