Although the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter in Green Township moved to a different location, people are still leaving animals at their former location. The old shelter building is now empty, and a “road closed” sign does not deter people from abandoning animals at the old property.
The Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter asks that people do not abandon their pets, but drop them off in person at their shelter located at 5051 Letterkenny Road West in Chambersburg. They also have outside cages in which to leave stray animals after hours.
In an interview with Fox43, the shelter’s director of communications Jennifer Vanderau said “One dog that’s left out there, or one box of kittens that’s forgotten out there. That’s one too many in my opinion.”
