The Animal Welfare Federation of New Jersey (AWFNJ) will host its annual Animal Welfare & Care Conference next weekend, March 14-15, 2014. The conference will take place at the Ocean Place Resort & Spa in Long Branch, New Jersey.

The event is publicized as one of the largest animal welfare conferences on the East Coast. The event is a great opportunity for anyone interested in animal welfare at any level, from novice volunteer to seasoned animal welfare professionals. It features two days of workshops, reception and entertainment. Important keynote speakers will be featured.

Presenters include some of the nation’s most dedicated and successful names in animal welfare. Workshops will cover a variety of topics including animal cruelty, animal control, wildlife and fundraising.

In a recent press release, AWFNJ president was noted as saying:

“In the years since this conference began, much has improved for animals in the care of shelters and rescues in New Jersey, says AWFNJ President Niki Dawson, who is also Interim Director at Somerset Regional Animal Shelter in Bridgewater, New Jersey. “It is a vibrant and growing industry and many compassionate and energetic people work on behalf of dogs and cats each day as either volunteers or employees in animal shelters, rescue groups, and national organizations. This conference is designed for anyone that is interested in learning more about the variety of issues and topics relevant to animal welfare.”

The AWFNJ conference is supported by many in the animal welfare industry. Current sponsors of the event include Petco, Petfinder, PetSmart Charities, Merck Animal Health and Datamars.

The Animal Welfare Federation of New Jersey (AWFNJ) is a statewide coalition of national and local animal welfare organizations working collaboratively to improve animal welfare in the State of New Jersey through advocacy, networking, and education.

The AWFNJ acts as a unifying voice for the animal protection community. The organization advocates on animal welfare legislation, encourages the enforcement of animal cruelty laws, conducts programs to elevate the quality of care for animals, and acts as a resource to help members solve common problems.
