Animal Planet took 'Gator Boys' and 'Finding Bigfoot' to the swamps

Sunday night, Jan. 13, 2013, Animal Planet took viewers to the swamps. New episodes of two favorite programs were set in the swamps: "Gator Boys" was in muddy Mississippi, and "Finding Bigfoot" was in the bayous of Louisiana.

This particular part of the United States is more popular than ever right now, and there are many reality type television programs being filmed there. "Gator Boys" have gone to Mississippi to work at an alligator farm to help round up the gators lost during Hurricane Katrina and teach alligator wrestling.

On tonight's episode, they had to rush to finish the gator pit for the first ever permanent alligator wrestling show in Mississippi. There were 250 people in line to see the show, and the Gator Boys did not disappoint.

"Finding Bigfoot" in the swamps was new hunting terrain to most viewers, but there is a real tradition of Sasquatch in western Louisiana. Most stories involve pigs or hogs which are plentiful in the area and an allegedly favorite meal of the big foot.

The popularity of "Swamp People," the History Channel's program about alligator hunters in Louisiana, has opened up a whole new genre of programs. The swamps are the place to be and Animal Planet took us there tonight.
