Are you interested in learning more about the bond we share with animals? This weekend, a traveling exhibition showcasing the human-animal bond will be at the America’s Family Pet Expo in Orange County, California. The exhibit entitled,“ Animal Connection: Our Journey Together” celebrates the 150th anniversary of the AVMF and seeks to inspire the next generation of veterinarians.
It was created through a joint partnership with the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), American Veterinary Medical Foundation (AVMF), the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service (SITES) and Zoetis.
Within the exhibit are interactive displays, video screens, games and hands-on, minds-on activities. Games such as find your dream pet allow visitors to answer questions about pet ownership and the type of care a specific pet requires. Visitors can also adopt the role of a veterinarian to walk through the steps of diagnosing a dog, cheetah or young pig. There are also behind the scene’s insights into the animal care and research at the Smithsonian’s National Zoo.
The exhibit began it’s nationwide journey in July at the 2013 AVMA and is now traveling throughout the USA.
The exhibit will be located within the America’s Family Pet Expo at the OC fair and event center, Booth 613. The address is 88 Fair Drive, Contra Mesa, California 92626. Admission to the exhibit is free with paid admission to the Pet Expo. More information about the Pet Expo can be found at: http://petexpooc.org
