Anhinga Press poetry writing contest

Anhinga Press is holding their annual prize for poetry for manuscripts of original poetry in English.

This writing contest is open to all writers. The winner receives a $2000 award and publication in Poets & Writers, The Writers’' Chronicle, Anhinga Press’ website and other writer's magazines.

Writers may submit previously published poetry but all entries must be in English.

The entry fee is $25.00. The deadline to enter is May 1, 2010. Contest results will be announced on Anhinga Press’ website after November 1, 2010.

The Writer’s Loft: Helmed by the famed Jerry Cleaver, author of Immediate Fiction and Professor of Professional Fiction at Northwestern University.

StoryStudio Chicago: StoryStudio’s mission is to “foster confidence and creativity in writing and storytelling through teaching, discussion, performance and community building. Writers and performers of all levels—from beginners to professionals—are invited to participate.”

Neighborhood Writing Alliance: The Neighborhood Writing Alliance holds several weekly writing workshops in neighborhoods across the city. Registration is free.

NewTown Writers: NewTown is a gay and lesbian writers’ group with regular workshops every two weeks. Registration is free.

TheUndeniables.org is an online critique group for those with restricted schedules who may not have the time to participate in a conventional classroom workshop. Registration is free. Wordpress account required.
