Angry Birds have already conquered the green pigs on Earth. Could their next fight be against pigs in space? Rovio Mobile announced Angry Birds Space on Friday and are planning to flood mobile, retail and animation channels with a blitz of new products.
Angry Birds Space will throw a curveball with new zero gravity gameplay on different planets along with new elements like slow-motion puzzles and "lightspeed" destruction.
Birds from the first three Angry Birds will return but there will be all new birds with new powers in what Rovio is calling its biggest launch since the original.
"We think fans are really going to love it because we've already gotten amazing feedback on the physics of our games," Andrew Stalbow, GM of Rovio North America, told Yahoo! Games. "They're so accurate and easy to grasp that some teachers use Angry Birds in their lessons about projectile motion."
"Science and education are very important to us, and we're very excited to have NASA and National Geographic as launch partners on Angry Birds Space," Stalbow added.
Angry Birds Space is scheduled for a March 22 blast off with iOS and Android devices a certainty. A release to consoles or Windows Phone is unknown at this time.
