"American Idol" 2013 continued March 7 on FOX with the results of the first viewer vote of season 12. Although 10 talented performers were sent packing, 10 others made the cut and advanced to the next round of the competition. Included in the winners' circle were a pair of judges' darlings in Kree Harrison and Angie Miller.
Miller, the 18-year old Mass. native who impressed with her March 6 rendition of "Idol" alum Colton Dixon's original song "Never Gone," celebrated her berth in the top 10 with Beyonce's "I Was Here." Keith Urban held back tears as he called Miller "so ready to go" and said he was "so happy" for her.
Nashville's Harrison was the last finalist to learn her fate, and delivered a near recording-ready version of "Evidence" as her victory song. Harrison enters the top 10 with a resume of celebrity supporters including country music newcomer Kacey Musgraves, Little Big Town, and actress Ricki Lake, who tweeted "#idol #kree is the winner! And not just because I think she looks like me" on March 6 following the live show.
Harrison tweeted gratitude to fans following the announcement, writing "We made it Kreepers, family, friends! Thanks so much for voting. Love you all so much! #Top10 can't believe it. #AmericanIdol12." An enthusiastic Miller also posted to Twitter after hearing the good news, tweeting "AHHHHH SOOOO CRAZYYY EXCITED!!!!!!! Love you all!!!!!! <3 #FreakingOut!!"
Rounding out the top 10 were ladies Janelle Arthur, Candice Glover and Amber Holcomb, as well as guys Lazaro Arbos, Burnell Taylor, Curtis Finch Jr., Paul Jolley and Devin Velez.
"American Idol" 2013 resumes March 13 with the next round of the competition.
