On Fri Feb 26 2—10, I participated in a rather incredible event over @ Kaleidoscope SF, a great little room over on 24th St with a donation bar and a parlor feel to it. The event was hosted to raise money for Heather Rainey's sister, who is having some *unfair* financial issues. If you'd like to learn more about that and help Heather and her sister out, click here. HK, MK Chavez and Paul Corman-Roberts hosted a large group of readers and, in a bold move, went ahead and set expansive parameters: this wasn't your average 2-hr or less reading ... but it did deliver the best collection of performances I've seen at one event. Ever.
Featured readers were yours truly, Jezebel Delilah X, Meg Day, Charlie Getter, and Harmon Leon, and we were joined by William Taylor Jr, Mark States, Sarah Page, Patti Orozco Cronin, Michael Layne Heath, Cassandra Dallett, Buford Buntin, Sharon Coleman, Anita Garriot, and Rajshree Chauhan.
There was anger, humor, and pretty much every form of catharsis. Watch these videos. Weep!
With so many readers I'm going to turn it over to them, in order, and let you enjoy what they have to say (and how they like to say it). Holy performance!!!
We took a nifty break at this point and I thought, wow, that went pretty well. I'd call that a purty good evening! But ... there was plenty more to come!
M A R C H F I R S T, soldiers!

- Last, I stumbled upon a great writing group that meets every Friday at noon at Cafe La Boheme. There are one sentence prompts and a timer. Someone reads a prompt and the timed writing begins with that sentence. The time—usually 5-6 minute intervals—is a mystery to everyone but s/he who sets it, and each person is supposed to write what they can. When time's up, each person reads what they have. There is no commentary allowed. A good find! Open to the public.
