Susan G. Komen for the Cure, a breast cancer advocacy group, is today dealing with a wave of pro-Abortion anger over its decision to end funding for Planned Parenthood.
The Komen foundation made the decision not to continue grants for 16 of 19 local Planned Parenthood affiliates.
“This is a difficult issue made more difficult by the gross mischaracterization” of Komen’s intent, said Elizabeth Thompson, the Dallas-based group’s president, in a conference call yesterday.
Meanwhile Facebook is ablaze with anger over the decision. Here is a random sample of a few posts from women regarding the matter.
“I am so done with Komen. I’ll never walk for them again”.
“PINK is now my least favorite color, go PP!”
“I just donated all the money I had saved for my summer vacation to Planned Parenthood. Komen can kiss my CHOICE ass!”
“Komen SUCKS”!!
“Save your own Tata’s now! Time to worry about MY OWN BODY!!!”
Reaction to the decision wasn’t just limited to everyday people on Facebook.
The Amy and Lee Fikes’ Foundation, run by the head of closely held Bonanza Oil Co. in Dallas, pledged $250,000; New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg said he would match the next $250,000; and Credo, a telecom firm, pledged $200,000.
For its part, the Komen Foundation says reaction to their decision is unfounded. However, there's no question this move will cost breast cancer research millions of dollars due to this reaction from abortion advocates.
