Angels Opening Day: Guerrero retires with Angels, Trout starts year with homer

Mike Trout must have watched some of Vladmir Guerrero's Angels highlights during the day.

Hours after the 2004 American League MVP signed a one-day contract with the club for the purposes of filing his retirement papers, Guerrero watched as Trout opened the season with a two-run blast into the bullpens off Mariners' ace Felix Hernandez in the bottom of the first inning.

The shot gave the Halos a 2-0 lead at the time, and helped the Angels get back into baseball mode after watching their hitting coach suffer a leg injury during the ceremonial first pitch.
